Chris Sheepshanks

Philosophy

Chris Sheepshanks"Coaching that enables individuals and teams to develop the confidence, insight and force of will to generate sustainable change and high achievement".

Approach

As a performance and leadership coach, Chris enables executives, boards and senior leaders to gain clarity on their role, their responsibilities and who they want to be as a leader or as a leadership team. His work explores the challenges and opportunities which exist and how people can achieve better results and make better choices. He has a particular interest in teams and the development of executive and leadership capability, with an emphasis on the attitude, beliefs, behaviours, and disciplines that need to be in place to generate high and sustained performance within a working environment.

Experience

Chris brings a variety of disciplines and experience to his work. His background was initially in the British Army, where he served as an officer with the Royal Green Jackets in a series of locations in peacetime and operational roles. He left the Army in the mid 1990s and after completing the MBA programme at the London Business School, he worked for 5 years in new venture development and in a number of executive and senior management positions with Associated Newspapers and then Associated New Media.

Industry experience

Chris has worked as an executive coach for the last 9 years, coaching executives and teams and training and developing other coaches from a wide range of private and public sector organisations. His extensive experience as a coach and trainer is coupled with his work as a senior consultant in developing robust and sustainable coaching and leadership development strategies.

This enables him to be a pragmatic, effective and challenging source of support for his clients at an individual and at an organisational level. His recent clients and projects include:

  • M & G Investments
  • Monitor
  • BP
  • H.M. Forces
  • Oxford Instruments
  • board and CEO development work with a wide number of SHA’s and Trusts in the NHS.

Qualifications

Chris initially qualified as a coach through The School of Coaching’s Professional Coaching programme accredited through the University of Strathclyde. He has since undertaken a wide range of additional training, including work with NLP, psycho-synthesis, transitional analysis, appreciative inquiry and emotional intelligence.

He is qualified to administer a variety of psychometric profiles, including Insights, Firo B and Belbin and is a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).  He completed his BA at the School of Oriental and African Studies and his MBA at the London Business School.
