Coaching for Clinicians

Over the last 8 years, The Performance Coach  has successfully delivered more than 30 Accredited Coaching programmes and Leader as Coach programmes with people managers across the NHS, including many clinicians.

In response to the current changes in the structure and organisation of the NHS, we have developed specific coaching skills programmes for clinicians.

With clinicians being increasingly required to lead and manage teams of clinical colleagues and to supervise junior staff, coaching and mentoring skills are becoming increasingly relevant. Our Coaching for Clinicians programmes are aimed specifically at managers and people in leadership roles in relation to their clinical colleagues from medical, nursing and allied health backgrounds.

Develop coaching and mentoring skills

During workshops participants are introduced to the key skills of coaching and mentoring – and how these apply and can be used effectively in a clinical working environment.  Our programmes focus on the small changes that people can make in order to introduce a coaching approach with individuals and teams, and how they can integrate a coaching approach into their existing management style.

Our programmes

Our four most frequently-commissioned programmes are listed below, and we would be happy to work with you to design a bespoke programme to meet the needs of your healthcare professional group and patient group needs.

  • 1 day - Coaching conversations for Clinical Leaders
  • 2 day - GP as Coach
  • 3 day - Clinical Manager as Coach, accredited to EMCC (European Mentoring and Coaching Council) Foundational Level
  • 5 day - Accredited Coaching Skills Programme for Clinicians, accredited to University of Portsmouth Business School (Certificate) or ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) Level 7
